Good News from A Great City
The Heartbeat of Haverhill tries to get to as many events as possible. But there are four events in Haverhill that are so grand in scope and history that we call them the cornerstone events of the region. These are the events that draw people into Haverhill from as far away as Boston, New Hampshire and beyond, and unite our neighborhoods in fun festivities.
NOTE Dates shown are 2016 though events typically take place around the same time every year. Links are to the organizers and we hope you are inspired to help them through donations and volunteer hours since all events are free, though vendors will charge for their wares.
July 3 every year is the HAVERHILL JULY FIREWORKS SHOW. Riverside Park on Lincoln Avenue in Haverhill Don’t let the name limit the event – there is a concert, 2016 saw the return of the carnival that charged a ride and game fee that spanned the long weekend, there are food vendors (let’s face it anytime there are Hillies congregating they want food) and kids’ activities and boats tied together for private parties in the Merrimack River. There are hours and days of pre-fireworks activities, but look to the fireworks to begin around 9-9:15pm on July 3.This event is put on by the City of Haverhill.

There is a float competition supported by a number of business, 20 or so bands from all over the region, antique cars, dancers, and service men and women, lots of fire trucks and lots of fun.

BONUS EVENT TO WATCH OUT FOR
Up and coming event….The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce also hosted the KIDS ARTS FEST Saturday June 4, 2016 from 11am-4pm on Washington Sq and Washington St. and though THOH thinks this event will be a keeper, it’s only two years old and not eligible therefore as a heritage event, yet. Kids explored their inner artist in clay, weaving, building, painting, performing, poetry, and of course snacking.
