Good News from A Great City Haverhill, MA
The 2016 Haverhill High School graduation ceremony for 400 students was packed with surprises big and small –
the fact the kids got about a dozen beach balls in the air simultaneously before they were confiscated,
that class president Aubrey Campbell left smarties on every student’s chair and served so admirably and confidently as the evening’s emcee
that one young man ordered take out pizza for the front row (that #Ellen DeGeneres is a bad influence)
That one very generous benefactor named Ernie DiBurro donated $800,000 to the sports department for a new clubhouse
Or that class valedictorian Benjamin Roy gave the most heartfelt speech with a retro feel encouraging love of self, others, our planet, our country and most especially Haverhill
And that as relayed by Mayor James Fiorentini, 400 student of every diverse background, with every imaginable challenge succeeded on new levels. More students attending ivy league schools (Harvard and Princeton), perfect scores on SATs, eight students proudly electing to serve our country. That all of these students are moving on to make big and small impressions that will change our world. It certainly is a reason to celebrate.

These are our remarkable students. The Heartbeat of Haverhill couldn’t capture every student, but we did capture a wide and representative range of our future.
