Good News from A Great City Haverhill, MA
It’s getting darker earlier, and we hate to admit it but summer is winding down. With school starting up again it’s easy to believe it’s time to move indoors with hot toddies and heavy comfort food. But don’t give up on the outdoors yet. There are still trails to be hiked and light dinners to be enjoyed. Take advantage of the good weather as long as it lasts. Follow the Saturday crowds that cruise Washington Street in their cars or on foot. It’s an adult scene on weekend nights featuring music, cocktails, and any assortment of cuisines.
Stop by Keon’s Bistro patio for people watching and a custom beverage (espresso martini or an excellent wine list?), appetizer, or dessert (chocolate molten lava cake is an all season favorite). The full dinner menu is also available under the stars. Best deal – Monday-Thursday check out the menu and select two exquisite entrees plus a shaker of martinis or a bottle of wine for $59*. *Tax and tip are separate.
The Tap entices with its frequently changing menu of craft brews (9 beers on tap at the time of this post), a supersized deck and exceptional pub food. Menu items include fried pickles, arugula and goat cheese salad, and flatbread pizzas. Sail your boat up to the new town dock and walk to this popular gathering place. Come by for Karaoke, Brunch, and Trivia or Sunday nights Paul Prue hosts free music the Accoustic Travelers Show on the deck from 6-8 pm .
Chit Chat Lounge opens its big windows and live music filters out onto the street. Or step inside for two different live music experiences. The second floor hosts acoustic music in the martini/wine lounge while the first floor erupts with the weekend (Thu-Sat) sounds of live bands. The Chit Chat has been supporting the local music scene for 50 years. And they’ve got it right.
And remember to play it safe. Drink responsibly and designate a driver, or call a cab. A Family Cab is a Haverhill company ready to return you safely to your home after you finish your evening outside on the town.
